Description

The winery that put the Northern Rhone on the map also makes a very creditable Southern Rhone wine from the benchmark appellation of Cotes du Rhone. It's predominantly Syrah 50%, along with 40% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre. Also, unusual in that it's really quite a complex and serious wine, the nose showing genuine complexity and the effects of 18 months' oak aging prior to bottling.

Smells

A meaty, dark and serious nose of black pepper, tobacco, cherry liqueur and blackcurrant.

Tastes

Lovely freshness and focus with clear notes of liquorice and cherry on the palate, the finely grained tannin and cured meat spices on the finish making a truly gratifying food wine. Enjoy now to 2027 with your favourite roasted red meats.
