A voluptuous Reserve Barossa Shiraz from the outstanding 2018 vintage. Handpicked off a single estate of in the heart of the Barossa Valley, it’s seriously high powered Barossa Shiraz fruit. Crushed and destemmed, open fermented and aged in barrel for 12 months in 10% new American oak and the remainder seasoned French oak. On opening it immediately shows all its power and class... and will continue to develop through 2028.

Classic Barossa Shiraz aromas of dark berry fruits, black Doris plums, coffee grinds, mocha, vanilla pods and hints of fennel and fresh tobacco leaves.

A rich, generously smooth palate with a creamy texture and where silky, velvety tannins caress the insides of your cheeks, giving warmth and depth. Dark chocolate, black cherries, vanilla and sandalwood flavours compliment this juicy, succulent approachable style. Too easy to drink, perfect on cold nights with a hearty stew.

I am often skeptical when wines get rave reviews and large discounts as I feel that you get what you pay for. I was a little cautious with his wine as a result, but still retained a hope that I was getting a decent wine for my money. You can drink like a king in Australia for $25 but it's difficult to get those wines here in NZ. I need not have been concerned though. This is a gorgeous wine. Fabulous deep red with purple edges. Not an inky black Barossa Shiraz but still full bodied and very handsome. Wonderful rich black fruit aromas and plenty of fruit on the palette along with some tannin and a nice spicy oak backbone. I noted some vanilla on the palette there too, so I suspect there is an element of American oak in there but I would say the wood is mostly French. The only drawback is it's still a little young and really needs another couple of years in the cellar. It's still eminently drinkable now, but it will benefit from a little more time. I believe it's a 10yrs+ cellar wine and will be lovely with some more time. Not sure I will be able to offer mine enough of that though. It's too nice. Amazing value. You can buy this one with great confidence!
