Description
Juicy and a very modern style of Crianza from Anciano in Valdepenas from 30-plus-year-old vine Tempranillo, grown on gravelly clay and limestone soils, cold winters and hot, dry summers give wines of complexity and richness. Cool fermented in stainless steel tanks, Anciano was then matured for at least six months in French and American oak, before a gentle gravity fining prior to bottling and ageing in their cellars. That’s a lot of resources poured into 30-year-old vine fruit, which is aged in bottle for 3-years before release… and you are paying the price of a cheap quaffing red, lucky for us all, enjoy!
Smells
Alluring aromas of dark berries, leather, vanilla, liquorice, mulled spices, and smoky meats.
Tastes
Elegantly proportioned with intense red currant, liquorice and berry flavours on the palate, firm, fine tannins give it great mouth feel as does the fresh, balanced acidity. A superb red suited to red meats, hard cheese, and a wide range of savoury-inspired dishes. Enjoy now through 2026.
