Italy has 4500 or more native grape varieties, and it's impossible to know them all, new ones keep appearing on the scene, especially now there is a trend back to local varieties rather than using the same old international varieties. After all, variety is the spice of life. And this Susumaniello is definitely worth a try. Susumaniello is a red grape variety from the 'heel' of Italy. It is an ancient grape variety which is grown in the province of Brindisi in the southern Italian region of Apulia. Another to add to the dictionary of varieties.

Warm aromas of baked cherry tart, black forest gateau, and maraschino cherries.

Ffavours of figs, balsamic strawberries, and hints of prunes. Full and rounded but warm, cheek-hugging tannins and a salivating acid thread, brings a moreish and cleansing finish. Wonderful drinking now with a selection of hard cheese.
