Description
For over 100 years, the Catena family have been pioneering high-altitude viticulture and leading Argentina’s wine revolution. From the San Carlos Vineyard, in the Uco Valley, at only 1090m this is at towards the foot of the Andes. Here, the sandy-loam soils and mountainous climate yield a wine of depth, concentration and ripeness. Hand picked grapes were cold macerated for 3 days, before undergoing fermentation for 20 days, with a final post-ferment maceration for 10 days. The wine was then matured in 35% new French oak for 12 months.
Smells
Full aromas of mature red cherries, raspberries and mulberries with sweet herbs and a touch of vanilla.
Tastes
Juciy and full-bodied, the rich red fruit lead into herbaceous complexity and chalky tannins. Very fresh with a full long finish. Enjoy now until 2026 with roast lamb.
