Description
Arguably the benchmark, year in and year out for Pinotage is Kanonkop. With a historic winery full of concrete fermenting tanks, very similar to what you see in the Rhone, the cellars are full of history. Kadette is the entry level Pinotage where the grapes are fermented in concrete vats before maturation in second use French oak for 14 months. Consequently, this is a softly structured wine, delicious with hearty pasta dishes.
Smells
It smells like coffee and cream biscuits with a red berry swirl and chocolate notes thrown in for good measure.
Tastes
blueberry fruit flavours prevail on the palate with a wild bracken and fennel note, giving the characteristic Pinotage life. Juicy, rounded fruit with fine mouthcoating tannins and acidity, make for good drinking. Perfect with pasta. Drink now.
