Description

Mission Estate is one of the founding wineries in Hawke’s Bay, known for producing outstanding, yet affordable wines. Their ‘VS’ label stands for vineyard selection and reflects the care and attention taken in sourcing the fruit for this value-tier of wines. Their 2020 Pinot Noir is selected from carefully managed vineyards in the Awatere Valley. It’s matured in French Oak adding spice and structure and is starting to drink well. And with its Sub $21 price tag, it will rapidly become your go-to Pinot for the summer of 2022-3 and longer.

Smells

abundant strawberry and cherry aromas leap from the glass with cedar, spice and a herbal twist of wild thyme.

Tastes

a juicy, fruit-forward, fruit-driven style of Pinot Noir, expressing red fruit flavours with soft, yet structured tannins with a fine acid thread. A nice balance between sweet and savoury on the palate with dried herb notes adds complexity to the elegant palate. Perfect drinking now and for most occasions, an uncomplicated style with wide consumer appeal. Enjoy it with roast pork or duck between now and 2024.
