Description

The Southern Valleys sub region of Marlborough is like the ‘Grand Cru’ area of the region. And Nautilus Clay Hills Vineyard is located on the ridge that divides the Brancott and Omaka Valleys. The vineyard is divided into 6 discrete blocks with differing aspects and slopes and an elevation between 100 and 130 m. Normally picked midway through the Pinot Noir harvest window, this vineyard has rapidly become the cornerstone block for Nautilus Pinot Noir where the clay-based soils contribute a silken texture and fine-grained tannins.

Smells

A lifted perfume with aromas of blackberries, raspberries and gorgeous smoky cherry notes, violets, and subtle oak spice.

Tastes

Juicy and rich, with plenty of generous fruit and with lots of complexity, while the abundant fine-grained tannins contribute to a long, lingering, and elegant finish. This wine will continue to develop over the next 5-6 years. Enjoy with Peking duck or other gamey meats.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
