Description

Russian Jack is the everyday Pinot Noir produced by NZ and Martinborough icons – Martinborough Vineyards. Named after a local who helped out where he could through local farms and orchards during the early 1900's. He lived to the ripe old age of 90, possibly testament to the benefits of enjoying red wine. Martinborough Vineyards have several established estates in the region, so although this is their everyday Pinot expression the vines that supply the fruit are mature, yielding fruit with nice depth and balance. It’s deliberately styled to be approachable as a young wine, easy drinking and priced sub $20 Pinot, perfect for a midweek meal and delicious just to sup now and through to 2020.

Smells

Ripe red fruits of cherry, strawberry and plum with subtle savoury/sandlewood and brown spice aromas.

Tastes

Silky smooth with quality, balance and structure. Juicy plums and cherries are laced with subtle savoury and spice elements, finishing juicy and poised. Mouth coating tannins giving structure and harmony. Great with winter stews, BBQ'd red meats and creamy cheeses.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
