Description
Cromwell’s Wooing Tree is a family owned single vineyard site, located in the heart of Central Otago. For many thousands of years Cromwell has been subjected to sandstorms during strong NW winds. These wind-blown sands form one of the only inland sand dunes in New Zealand. Especially low yielding, ripe hand-picked fruit, gentle winemaking, and extended maturation in French oak have resulted in a complex and powerful wine.
Smells
intense aromas of dark cherries, tamarillos, vanilla pods, cedar, and spice
Tastes
a silky-smooth palate with vibrancy, red and dark fruit flavours, exotic spices supported by toasty vanilla and cinnamon oak. The fruit weight and oak marry seamlessly with the salivating acidity giving length, drive, ageability and drinkability. This has a few years bottle age, offering excellent drinking now but will cellar till 2027+. Perfect with gamey meats, pasta, or cured meats.
