Description

Elephant Hill Reserve Syrah is one of the benchmark wines of the Hawkes Bay region, regularly winning Champion Trophies, Gold Medals & 5-Star Ratings. This 2018 has 5 x 5 Star ratings including 96/100 Cameron Douglas MS and 96/100 FWD… an impressive Syrah! A wine of majestic beauty and concentration, but with a touch more elegance. Richly coloured and incredibly complex on bouquet, it can sit on the world stage alongside Hermitage & Cote Rôtie of the Rhone in France. Aged 6-years in the winery cellars it is entering a beautiful drinking window now through 2032. This majestic Elephant is out of its cage and in a magnificent place!

Smells

A thrilling aromatic array of vanilla, rose petals, peppercorns, cardamom, raspberry, blackberry, leather, and violets.

Tastes

Spicy and lavish in the mouth, with gorgeous silky concentration and smooth oak tannin expanding the mid-palate. It finishes long with creamy vanilla, fresh berry, spice flavours with a grainy textural feel prevalent. One of the great Syrah’s, it's entering a great drinking window but will still reward cellaring through to 2032.
