Big, bold Barossa Shiraz, like liquid ink.

Grant and Helen Burge are synonymous with the Barossa where they started in 1988. Recently bought by Accolade, so watch this space and see what happens. The Burge label has always meant, rich, concentrated wines offering value for money. The Ink label is just about that, as indicated on their website: “Barossa Ink came about as a challenge set down by the Grant Burge winemaking team to come up with the most vibrant and impactful wines as possible. The result are two intensely opulent wines from the heart of the Barossa, with a colour so dark, it’s almost ink.” Burge Website.

intensely ripe plums with dark chocolate, cedar and spice.

deep, inky colour, they achieved their goal and not just in colour. The palate is very concentrated, silky smooth, stew plums with melted dark chocolate flavours. Fine grain tannins that encase the generously plump fruit with a hedonistic bitter chocolate finish, like liquid ink. Why cellar as its delicious but will age for 3-5 years. Serves with cheese or sticky port ribs. 5 stars in Cuisine, Best Buy and # 2 spot in their recent Shiraz tasting, says it all.
