Saltram Mamre Brook 2017 Shiraz Cleans up $100-$200 Aussie Shiraz icons... Gold & 95 Points at Australia’s National Wine Show beating Prestige Aussie Reds like Yalumba Octavius Shiraz ($120) and Taylors Pioneer Shiraz ($200). That was no fluke when you experience the complexity and sophistication of this modestly price Old Vine Barossa Shiraz that spends an impressive 22-months in oak as part of its high-level winemaking.

Saltram’s 160-year footprint is part of Barossa Valley fokelore. Their Mamre Brook reds are the stuff of legends having twice won Australia’s most coveted red wine Trophy the “Jimmy Watson”. 2017 Saltram Mamre Brook Shiraz went Gold & 95/100 at the “Australian National Wine Show”. The most rigorously judged wine show in Australia where entries are only accepted from previous Silver & Gold Medal winners at Australia’s Annual State wine competitions.

The Wine...
Brooding nose of blackberry, plum, pencil shavings, liquorice and a delicate woody, floral lift. Voluptuous, chewy and dense on the palate, the fine coating of tannins frame the dense layers of black fruit, liquorice, spices and savoury olive that have nicely subsumed the abundance of oak. A perfect thread of acid adds a delicious juiciness to the fine and nicely dry finish. Great match for slow cooked meats, BBQ'd fare and by the fire on a winter's night.

Gold & 95 Points it outpointed iconic Prestige Aussie Reds $120-$200 bottle. It’s hard to overstate the calibre of fruit and winemaking trapped in this legendary Saltram Mamre Brook Barossa Shiraz, enjoy at the incredibly accessible and modest price of $27.99 bottle.

Only 100 dozen left for NZ and Fine Wine Delivery has secured it all for our Shiraz customers. 2017 was an excellent vintage in the Barossa, this stunning Mamre Brook will comfortably age in your care through to 2027 if well stored.

Enjoy, Jeff
