COMPARABLE TO PENFOLDS GRANGE... BUT ONLY 8% OF THE PRICE!

Age worthy up for decades - just $69.90

7 years since last NZ allocation... such is Aussie demand for this iconic 80 year old vine Shiraz often compared to $900 Penfolds Grange... sensational @ $69.90

Most Aussie Prestige Shiraz buyers and wine critics will tell you Seppelt Great Western Shiraz is the greatest bang for buck flagship Shiraz in Australia! Deserving of a mention in the same company as Penfolds Grange... Henschke, Rockford et al... but fractionally priced by comparison. The clever Aussie Shiraz buyers snap it up on release, NZ last received an allocation in 2013. We have secured 58 x 6-packs and after taking care of our historic buyers list... we are releasing the last 18 x 6-packs of this Triple 97/100 2018 vintage for general sale on a first come basis.

Released in small quantities and only in exceptional years, 2018 was exceptional as its triple 97/100 ratings suggest. St. Peters is Seppelt’s flagship Shiraz, testimony to the distinctive style and 80-year pedigree of this Grampians Shiraz. This iconic red dates to 1964, when ‘Great Western Hermitage’, as it was then known, was first made. Since renamed St. Peters in 1998 in honour of the first vineyard planted in the region. Today St. Peters is sourced from the finest and most intense old vine fruit from the best blocks of the Great Western Vineyard.

The wine...

Opulent aromas of Black Doris plums, mulberries, fine mint, hints of coconut and dark chocolate. Beautifully rich palate layered with perfectly ripe black fruits bound by chewy, sinewy tannins that titillate the insides of the cheeks with a dusty, chalky quality. Seductive chocolate, mint, cedar and spice complexities permeate the middle and back palate... the oak influence is very sophisticated. The plushness enables it to be enjoyed young with a good decant... it will evolve more rounded flavours through the 10-20-year mark... but is a Shiraz capable of ageing up to 50-years in the best storage.

Seppelt Great Western Shiraz is a bargain of extraordinary proportions. You would have to search long and hard to find a wine of comparable quality, complexity and sophistication anywhere in the world at $69.90 bottle. Grab yourself a 6-pack (only 18 packs left) and ensure you are on the preferred buyers list for the next allocation. That will be when they make their next vintage and when they favour us with an allocation again... so far, its 7-years since the last one. Enjoy, Jeff

Description

Released in small quantities and only in exceptional years, St. Peters is Seppelt’s flagship Shiraz, testimony to the distinctive style and pedigree of Grampians Shiraz. The lineage of this iconic wine dates back to 1964, when ‘Great Western Hermitage’, as it was then known, was first made. Since 1998 this wine has been called St. Peters in honour of the first vineyard planted in the region. Today St. Peters is sourced from the finest and most intense fruit from the best blocks of the Great Western Vineyard. In vintage 2018, this included select parcels of fruit from the Imperial and Arrawatta blocks and is a powerful, seductive expression of Shiraz from the Great Western region. With extraordinary cellaring potential of 50 years or more, this wine is classified ‘outstanding’ by Langton’s in its classification of Australian Wine VI. Grown on ancient granite and schist soils, low yielding old vines resulting in a perfumed and very concentrated Shiraz.
