Description
The winery is cashing up this outstanding 2020 Syrah that would normally be sold in restaurants and bars. 2020 Crofters Syrah is deserving of a considerably higher price tag than $25.00 a bottle at Stonecroft’s Cellar Door. Dominated by the original Stonecroft Syrah clone fruit from their old vines... its hand-harvested and traditionally fermented in open top fermenters... followed by maturation for 17-months in seasoned French oak barriques. Master Sommelier Cameron Douglas was right on the money with his powerful 95/100 rating. It’s maturation in seasoned barriques makes it incredibly approachable as a young Syrah... but the fruit concentration and winemaking complexity allied with the magnificent 2020 vintage... will make for outstanding drinking through 2025/2027.
Smells
Absorbing aromas of blackberries, mulberries, black cherries, red currants and a seamless thread of white pepper, a roasted vegetable note with a perfumed lift of violets.
Tastes
There is vibrancy, poise and an incredible silky texture to this wine embracing an opulence of bright, juicy black and red fruits. Fine tea leaf tannins and succulent acidity create a salivating texture. The combination is both enticing, ultimately satisfying and leaving you longer for another sip. This wine is drinking well now, however will cellar for 4-6 years and would make a superb complement to rare roasted red meats.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
