Description
96 points from James Halliday is well deserved for 2017 Tyrrell's Hunter Valley Shiraz! Crafting wine since 1857, the Tyrrell family have developed an intimate understanding of their terroir over 162 years. In vintages like 2017 the Hunter Valley yields some of the great Shiraz of Australia. Lindemans Hunter River Shiraz 1965 is still referred to as one of the greatest ever reds made in Australian history, so never underestimate the Hunter Valley in a cracker vintage. This iconic value Shiraz is crafted from a mix of old vine sites in the Hunter Valley, giving it superb fruit quality and complexity. It’s a superb medium bodied Shiraz with broad appeal... very balanced and rounded... great with or without food. Drink now through 2025+ and don’t miss it!

Smells
Lifted florals with loads of berry and cherry fruits infused with cracked pepper and vanilla spice.
Tastes
Delicious and velvety entry onto the palate with a seductive mix of berry and cherry fruits, vanilla spice, cracked pepper and subtle savoury characters. The combination of tannin, oak and acidity is stylishly firm with plenty of give in the lengthy, superbly juicy finish. Enjoy by itself, with BBQ’d rump steak or chargrilled eggplant... or be more adventurous, it has great food compatibility.
