Description
Bodegas Piqueras was founded in 1915 by Mario Bonete, one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Almansa DO in southern Spain and the most important producer of bottled wine in the region. Sourced from hand-harvested, 25-30 year-old, organically-farmed vines grown at 700-800m above sea level in calcareous, stony soils. Valcanto is a pure, intense, elegant expression of Syrah with delicious, natural acidity and is aged in fine-grained 300l American oak hogsheads for 6 months to give a gentle, creamy texture.

Tastes
Chalky tannins give way to plump red fruits, great length and impressive complexity for a wine of this price. Enjoy it, gift it, share it or age it (for a couple of years). The perfect BBQ and/or BYO wine, you and your friends will love it.
