Description

Zonte’s Footstep Wines were established in 2003... a proudly independent Australian wine producer crafting high quality wines accessibly priced that speak of the soils of McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Adelaide Hill and of course the mighty Barossa. A simple and relentless drive to craft wines with personality that reflect a sense of place, style and intent... perfectly expressed in their hugely popular “Chocolate Factory Shiraz”. Winemaker Ben Riggs’ name is synonymous with many top wines of South Australia – he developed an icon following through his 14-years work with Wirra Wirra and other wineries such as Mr. Riggs... his resume is impressive! Ben’s deep reservoir of skill, experience and regional knowledge are displayed in 2017 Zonte’s Footstep Chocolate Factory Shiraz – it’s a big, rich, texturally smooth Shiraz from the Blewett Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale, resplendent with the trademark soft McLaren Vale tannins.

Smells
Heady aromas of dark chocolate, blackcurrant, plum, exotic spices and fine cedary oak.

Tastes
Full-bodied and creamy, deep flavours of dark berries and plum flood the warm, cuddly and rich palate, with spice and liquorice permeating the strong finish. Delicious as 4-year-old wine, it has all the credentials to cellar through 2027 and beyond should you choose. Enjoy it with chargrilled meats and enjoy just supping it... ideally give it 30-minutes in the decanter for best results.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.

Very good example of SA Shiraz. Deep purple in colour with concentrated delicious black berries and plums on the palate. At this price point, definitely buying more.

Love this wine. It's rich fruity smoothness makes it a wine that you just want to keep drinking. Over the years we have had some wonderful Chocolate Factory - This is one of the best vintages.

26th August 2021 | Margot Murphy

Approaching five stars. Cellaring will be rewarded, but drinking young and well now. Another reliable release from ZF.

26th August 2021 | Sam

beautiful drop

26th August 2021 | Dean Reginald Morrison

Great wine. Lived up to its review and reputation. Just ordered another dozen to help through lockdown!

26th August 2021 | Philip Beilby

I think this is the best value $17 red you guys have ever had. The tasting notes are very accurate except I didn't get so much chocolate, however I did have a slight cold. I left it in a decanter all day and it was a completely different wine by evening. Also the alcohol is 14.5% not 14% as in your notes, not that it matters haha

26th August 2021 | Vern Hines

Lovely easy drinking Aussie Shiraz

26th August 2021 | James Bayly

Dark ruby, teary legs and blackberry aroma, Taste of black currant, plum, black cherry and mocha. Great tannins, balance and after-taste.
