Description

First time in NZ and exclusive to Fine Wine Delivery Company, from a rare grape variety. I can hear your thoughts, another Italian variety you have never heard of. It’s hardly surprising considering there are over 4500 native varieties to this spectacularly wine diverse country, making it all the more captivating and intriguing. In a familiar story, Nero di Troia is yet another Italian grape that had faded into obscurity only to have its fortunes wildly altered by the modern movement toward the “re-discovery” of neglected grapes, especially in Italy.. Nero di Troia is the third most important variety of Puglia’s native black grape vines after Negroamaro and Primitivo, typically found in the northern part of the province. Nero di Troia has a lively colour, fresh fragrant notes of violets, soft in acid but can be especially tannic.

Smells

distinctive notes of violets, blackberries, blueberries with balsamic and spice.

Tastes

a full-bodied rendition, smooth voluptuous fruit with complex, velvety tannins with the inherent soft acid, making for a delicious drinking red wine, that’s far from the norm. A wine usually drunk young, ideal with roasted or grilled meats and aged cheese. Equally the perfect glass at home with a good friend.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
