The Monastrell or Mouvedre (in French), vines are dry-farmed on limestone soils resulting in a deeply fruited, concentrated, robust wine style, perfect with roasted red meats or most BBQ meats. Drinking well now but will easily cellar for 3-4 years further.
Smells
alluring floral perfumes, violet, and roses with a meaty, savoury complexity.
Tastes
Monastrell thrives in warm climates and this wine shows the rustic, meaty charm of the variety. A lovely combination of ripe, savoury flavours with a dark, fruity mid-palate indicative of the warm, dry growing conditions. The juicy fruit is encased in grippy tannins, all brought into balance by the salivating acidity, making for great everyday drinking.
