Description

From a small selection of the oldest Nebbiolo vines of the Family-owned Mosconi vineyard, Monforte d’Alba, one of the most prestigious areas of the entire Barolo region, very well known for great complexity, elegance, and longevity. This was the latest acquisition, 10 hectares of the Mosconi appellation in Monforte d’Alba, by the 4th generation family member Pio Boffa on his 60th birthday. Its worth every penny and if you want to taste an amazing Barolo, then this is it……

Smells

the descriptions are endless, aromas of blackberries, black cherries, plum with hints of tobacco, eucalyptus with a perfumed layer of rose petals, a forest berry selection, intertwined with dark spices and menthol.

Tastes

Decadent flavours of Marasca cherries, cranberries, strawberries with black cherries and plums give way to tobacco, liquorice, and spice. A full-bodied palate structure where flavours linger to a long finish with nuances of mint, lavender the crushed herbs. A true Nebbiolo entry which is slightly austere and drying but fleshes out to richness, silkiness and with a weight that quickly lures you in. It takes a few sips, but once you savour and reflect you are there, in the land of Nebbiolo and most importantly Barolo….Heavenly and a heed of warning, it does need time, 8-10 years+ in a temperature controlled cellar.
