Description

The moment I see this label my senses are heightened, and my taste buds start tingling with anticipation of what is about to come. And clearly many agree as it scored 95 points in Wine Spectator, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and 96 from James Suckling. A very serious wine from one of the iconic Modern producers of Barolo, combined with the stunning 2016 vintage and all we can say is, buy it immediately, whilst it is still available. A once in a lifetime opportunity and one not to be missed. This will cellar 15-20years+. However today Barolo’s are more approachable earlier due to better viticultural practices, riper grapes and softer winemaking techniques that do not extract big, drying tannins. The results are nothing short of sensational and even better you can drink them within a few years but wait 10years and the wait will be worth it.

Smells

a wonderful bouquet lifts from the glass and I cannot get enough of even just smelling the glass. Aromas of dried cherry, a rose petal perfume, red baked earth, tar and hints of liquorice, menthol, and balsamic vinegar.

Tastes

a firm, robust, muscular wine right now and with menthol, dusty oak flavours prevalent at the moment, but given time, the integration will be sublime. Flavours of black cherries, tobacco, leather, and spice titillate the tongue. The texture is striking with depth, power and concentration and an ample, long finish. Simply stunning and a class act that needs more time.
