Description

Argentina and its signature variety seem to be striding ahead in leaps and bounds, especially when considering the quality-to-value ratio. The concentration and power of these wines are impressive for what seems like a minuscule price. Santa Ana, a winery with Italian ancestry, has only gone from strength to strength, showing their true commitment to their new home. The reserve Malbec 2021 has been aged in a combination of French and American barrels for nine months, adding complexity and richness.

Smells

a sweet, lifted bouquet of blackberries, mulberries, blueberries, coffee grinds, and lashings of vanilla and coconut, giving way to exotic spice notes.

Tastes

a deeply coloured and well-structured wine, where in the mouth it has a velvety texture with mouthcoating tannins that hug the insides of your cheeks. Dark, berry flavours persist on the tongue with bitter chocolate, coffee bean notes and a lively raspberry thread. A wine that will benefit from decanting an hour prior to serving. There is only one partner for this wine, and that is a prime cut of beef. For optimal drinking pleasure serve at 16-17 degrees.
