Description
Usually one of the bigger, richer styles of Pinot Noir from the Marlborough region, Auntsfield Pinot Noir has a hint of Central Otago about it, but the mouth feel is more generous thanks to the heavy clay influence of the Southern Valleys. Often a wine that takes a few years to show its best, it's a very enjoyable glass of wine at 3 years old on release but expect it to get better every year between now and 2030.
Smells
Spicy, leathery, and nutty with hints of espresso to go with the black and red cherries.
Tastes
Rich and structured on the palate with serious tannins supporting all that fruit weight, the balance comes through with a velvety and richly layered finish. A lot of wine in this glass, this would be a great candidate for the cellar if you can keep your hands off it long enough. Enjoy now through 203-+ with your favourite red meat, lamb, venison, or beef.
