Description

‘Te Kano’ (Maori for seed) celebrates the lone surviving Kowhai tree affectionately known as ‘Old Man Kowhai’ on the Northburn slopes above Lake Dunstan — on land Te Kano Estate calls home. Committed to rejuvenating the land and a sustainable future through re-planting and excellent stewardship. Te Kano is for those who appreciate the rarest combination of layered elegance and sublime natural quality. Estate grown, Bannockburn fruit, handpicked, matured in French oak barrels for 10 months.

Smells

wild raspberry and cherry aromas merge with savoury brown spices, hints of leather with a crushed thyme note underpinned by violets and cedar.

Tastes

layered elegance perfectly describes the palate, layers of red and dark fruit with silky, smooth tannins, and a refreshing acid vein, a delicious contract of richness and freshness that is seamless from go to whoa. Delicious drinking now, so why wait but it will cellar for 4-5 years. Pekin Duck and Kin are made for each other.
