Description

An estate blend of 8 clones of Pinot Noir from Te Kairanga's Runholder vineyards on the Martinborough Terrace crafted by outstanding NZ winemaker John Kavanagh, we identified and earmarked it as an outrageous NZ Pinot bargain over the last 3-vintages. It was elevated to global status with the 2015 vintage scoring 97/100 and winning the Platinum Trophy for Best NZ Pinot Noir at the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards, also placing it among the Top 50 wines of the world from 17,000 reviewed by Decanter Judges. Runholder is a superbly coordinated Pinot Noir and wine... the integration of perfectly ripened fruit, oak and winemaking influences are seamless. It’s a defining example of extreme value. Absolutely drinkable now... it will evolve beautifully in the cellar over the next five to six years and is a Pinot you’ll never tire of.

Smells

Cherries, plums, exotic spices, subtle smoky oak and seductive milk chocolate... a gorgeous medley of aromas.

Tastes

A luscious mix of predominantly red fruit and subtle black fruit intensifying throughout the finely balanced palate. Subtle chocolate and spice oak add to its charm and complexity along with hints of truffle and exotic spices. It’s all deliciously expressed in velvety tannins and juicy fine acidity. An outrageous Pinot bargain deserving of its successes... enjoy now through to 2030.
