Description
2021 Alma would stand out in a crowd of quality premium Pinot Noir. Te Mata has meticulously grown and crafted their 4th Alma Pinot Noir into one of the finest expressions of the grape you could find. Slightly bigger and riper than 2020, it is however easy to see the thought, passion and skill poured into this wine. Dark, dense fruit, fine oak, silky tannins and contrasting elegance.
Smells
Intense notes of cherries, and violets, morphing into blackberries, and mulberries, with hints of sandalwood, five spice, and cinnamon revealing themselves as the wine airs.
Tastes
A bold, robust palate, reminiscent of Pommard with a sturdy structure and tannins to boot. Abundant flavours of cherries, plums, cedar, wood, and spice set in finely textured tannins and perfect acidity. Perfectly balanced, it is youthful and vibrant and will benefit from at least 4-5 years in the cellar.
