Description
It's not surprising that winemakers who are so good at making Methode Traditionnelle are so good at working the beneficial lees flavours into their Chardonnay. Mike and Claire Allan spend time at Taittinger in Champagne, a famously Chardonnay-forward house, and their skills seem to have translated to this Huia Chardonnay. Fully certified organic.
Smells
Creme caramel, brioche, peach, and hints of French oak.
Tastes
Fat, creamy and rather decadent, with lots of tree-ripened stone fruit flavours, red apples layered with cinnamon and toast. The rich, creamy palate is balanced by a fine crystalline thread of acid, giving superb drinkability. This is an awesome Chardonnay that deserves an equally plump roast chook. Enjoy now to 2026.
