Description
Stunning vineyard and stunning wines from the slopes of Waipara, Nth Canterbury, a must try.
For those of you who have visited Mountford will know that everything about this place is stunning, the vineyards, the house and their wines. Situated on some of the best clay/limestone soils NZ has to offer. A vision started by Buffy and Michael Eaton and what a vision!!.. They built the house from an old railway shed, paying $200 and a crate of beer. Gotta love that kiwi ingenuity. Their attention to detail is second to none, and especially so in their wines... the evidence is in the bottle, one sip of this 2015 Chardonnay and you will agree.

Smells
ripe sweetcorn ears, warm hay bales sitting in the sun, peach skins, green melon and green gage with hints of lavender and rosemary giving way to butterscotch and toasty nuances.
Tastes
this speaks of a Chardonnay made with all the trimmings, barrel fermentation, lots of lees stirring and full malo, resulting in a rich, creamy style. Ripe stone fruit flavours with a limey, zesty, acid finish, reigning in the abundant fruit, exuding drinking pleasure. This has a few years bottle age offering superb drinking now and will continue to drink well for the next 3-4 years. A heavenly combo with roasted white meats and fine vegetarian cuisine.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
