Description
If there are better value red wines in the world than the Castano's Hecula range, there aren't many – a producer in DO Yecla, Murcia, Spain. And this latest addition at least to the Fine Wine Delivery Co’s shelves is this superb GSM. Grown on stoney, sandy and limestone soils, using both a combination of bush vines and vines grown on a trellis system, capturing the best of all worlds. A blend of 50% Garnacha, 25% Syrah and 25% Monastrell. Aged for 4 months in mostly French oak and a few American oak barrels to add a lifted sweetness.
Smells
aromas of baked strawberries, red liquorice, sandalwood and baked red earth with a spice lift.
Tastes
this delivers everything you want and expect from a GSM, plush fruit from the Garnacha, liquorice, spice and acidity from the Syrah and a dark, meaty brooding character from the Monastrell. The perfect balance of juicy, fruit, yet a chewy and robust palate on the finish. The perfect BBQ wine, drinking well now through 2026.
