Description
Consistently the most revered NZ producer where everything they touch turns to gold and this new addition to their family will not disappoint. Potiki meaning ‘last born’ in Maori is blended from a selection of newer plantings on the Martinborough Terrace. More reactive to the vintage conditions than their older vines, but they read the conditions well, a stunning new sibling to their range. Only the second release, the 2021 really steps it up a gear, don’t wait as you will kick yourself if you miss out on this beauty.
Smells
full aromas of yellow skinned peach, buttery French toast and aniseed overwhelm and delight.
Tastes
A rich, oily wine with a creamy texture and salivating, salty acidity portraying purity, freshness and energy that entices and draws you in for another mouthful. This wine encapsulates concentration and power whilst maintaining elegance, it will be impossible to resist. Pureed apple and custard flavours give way to toast and vanilla with a salted lemon skin zest on the long, lingering finish. This will benefit from a couple of years cellaring if you can wait. Made for grilled pork chops.
