An early sell out every year leaving us hanging for sometimes months before the new release. In this case this exciting 2022 that finished 4th out of 133 NZ Chardonnays reviewed by Bob Campbell MW. Clearview Reserve is world class Kiwi Chardonnay, having accumulated countless Champion Trophies, Gold Medals, 5-Star reviews and international accolades… Tim wouldn’t have a room big enough to display them all. He has resumed his involvement more closely in this wine along with talented Clearview winemaker Matt Kirby. Together they have crafted a massively concentrated and bold wine that is faithful to the style that earned its top billing reputation. Opulent, creamy, toasty, and lavishly fruited, this is sensational full-bodied Chardonnay with equal amounts of style. It will age and fatten out for 10+ years in the cellar if well stored.
Smells
Lots of golden peach, pineapple and hazelnut with toasty oak spice and vanilla and a very subtle but enticing struck match note.
Tastes
Lavish and extremely concentrated with tree and tropical fruits, layered with toasty, vanilla oak and creamy butterscotch characters… creating a tirade of flavour and fascination. The fine citrus and nectarine infused acidity brings freshness to the commanding finish. A true treat for lovers of this iconic powerhouse Chardonnay, if we could afford to drink it every day, we wouldn't hesitate. Enjoy with good food and company between now and 2030+.
