The 9th consecutive Collaboration Chardonnay... there have been many highlights since 2011 Collaboration, but 2020 must be the most exciting yet, virtue of such a fabulous Hawkes Bay vintage! We identified Tim Turvey and his Clearview Estate as the perfect partner for our Chardonnay. His vineyards renowned for their generously flavoured, consistently ripe fruit and higher natural acid levels from the cooler night-time breezes on the Te Awanga Coast. Each December Tracey and I get together with Tim Turvey and head winemaker Matt for a tasting session looking at the best of vintage blends to create the perfect Collaboration always true to style. In 2020 we reviewed 12 different blends... many from different sites with varying degrees of oak, malolactic ferment, lees stirring, plus a pure fruit component. The objective... blend a Chardonnay with generous Hawkes Bay stone fruit, rounded toasty oak, creamy lees inspired texture/richness, buttery/nutty elements and a freshness on the finish that repeatedly draws you back to the glass. Once the blend is decided it is brought together and left in barrel until February... when it is bottled and rested for several weeks before release to Fine Wine Delivery customers. 2020 is outstanding and a tribute to the Collaboration style.

Ripe golden peach, nectarine, a hint of grapefruit, hazelnut butter and enticing toasty oak aromas excite.

You’ll be impressed by the flavour concentration, pure stone fruit, toasty oak, seductive nutty/buttery lees characters, and the trademark freshness on the finish more-ish. It always drinks beautifully as a young Chardonnay... but it is a complex wine that exponentially improves throughout the next 12-months and you always wish you’d bought more... enjoy through 2025.
