Description

Hand-picked fruit from premium vineyard sites at optimum ripeness, this Chardonnay spends 18-months in French oak barriques (20% new). With indigenous yeast fermentation, lees stirring and a complete malolactic fermentation, this is a hand-crafted, superb Chardonnay. What is even more impressive is that this 2019 is only just released now after spending a further two years ageing in bottle. To enjoy it for this price is a testament to the exceptional value our premium NZ wines deliver compared to their European counterparts.

Smells

Aromas of warm sundried hay, roasted fennel, buttered popcorn, struck match with creamy, yeasty notes and a dash of preserved lemons.

Tastes

A classically structured Chardonnay highlighting elegance yet power and length. The lingering after-taste goes on forever finishing with biscuity, citrus and toasty, vanilla notes whilst initially green apples and nectarines subtly ignite the tastebuds. The finish keeps you guessing, finding new descriptives and wanting another sip. It’s pure harmony in the glass and where they have done some of the ageing for us; 3-years bottle age on release! It will reward further cellaring through to 2026 if you can resist drinking it all now. Made for white poultry and even pork belly.
