BEST EVER KUMEU VILLAGE CHARDONNAY... HANDS DOWN!

Sensational Chardonnay quality @ $15.90

Bob Campbell MW made it his “House Chardonnay” in 2002... he says this 2019 is the best he can recall...” – we agree hands down... utterly sensational @ $15.90!

Kumeu River Single Vineyard Chardonnays (Mate’s – Hunting Hill – Coddington – Rays Road) are world class... publicly preferred by many of the world’s leading wine critics to French white Burgundies 5 to 20 times their prices... it’s a matter of record. Their “Village” Chardonnay is blended across their estates and crafted with similar detail and commitment. This 2019 (fabulous vintage) is outstanding... we are in total agreement with Bob Campbell... “It’s the finest Village Chardonnay we have ever tasted.” Sensational drinking at $15.90.

The wine...

Incredibly Kumeu River maintain the tradition of 100% handpicked fruit, 100% MLF and over 45% French Oak maturation all contributing to the body and richness of this remarkable value Chardonnay. The addition of a sizable fruit component from their Hawke's Bay Ray’s Road vineyard has given it a noticeable increase in mid-palate weight with predominant stone fruit presence. The judicious fermentation of 20% in tank gives it a superb Chablis like freshness. Fragrant aromas of apricots, nectarines, roasted nuts and subtle mineral notes preempt a generous and rich stone fruit dominant palate. There is a very elegant subtle oak influence overlaid with biscuity, nutty lees notes all adding excitement in the lightly creamy and fresh finish. Incredibly stylish, it is ready to drink now or over the next 3+ years.

What a delicious Chardonnay experience... a small price to ask for such quality. Even at its full price of $19.99 it substantially over delivers... at $15.90 it is not only the finest ever Kumeu Village Chardonnay... it is NZ’s finest sub $20 Chardonnay. We are lucky to have the Brajkovich family making Chardonnay in NZ... and super lucky that they make a wine of such outstanding quality at such a widely affordable price. If you have drifted away from Chardonnay... this will get you reengaged with this noble white grape. ENJOY OFTEN, JEFF
