Chardonnay is a case in point, the wine often very complex and funky in its youth, but its sheer weight and concentration always turning into something special. This 2020 vintage needs time but is top notch Pegasus Bay Chardonnay for those who know how magnificently it develops. Smells
Sizzled almond butter, flint like reduction, grilled nectarine and peach. Gorgeous.
Tastes
Succulent brioche, vanilla and creme brulée against a mineral and vibrant acid line, the whole thing finishing creamy and seriously lovely. Benchmark stuff, there are few better. Enjoy upon release (decant for 30-minutes pre-serving, this will also let the wine slightly warm up) or age with confidence through to 10 years from vintage. Perfect served with roasted white meats or rich, savoury pasta dishes.
