Description
The name Dandelion comes from the French ‘dents-de-lion’ or Lion’s Tooth – but then all Pyramid Valley’s home wines are named after the predominant weeds in their individual vineyards. Lion’s Tooth is known by Mike and Claudia Weersing for being richer due to the higher clay content of the soils and also more saline due to the active lime in the soil.
Smells
Quite unlike any other Chardonnay you’ll smell, the overall impression is not so much fruit as it is florals, cornmeal and delicate herbs. Thoroughly intriguing and satisfying.
Tastes
Incredibly concentrated and quite mineral, with white peach, chalk and Meyer lemon. Like many great biodynamic wines, the energy seems to be obvious in the mouth, the acidity gently mouth-watering and the finish, long, clean and very complex, defying most conventional descriptors. A wine that needs to be tasted to be believed, few will unfortunately get to do so, due to the tiny production. Enjoy in its youth from a decanter or cellar and savour over the next 15 years.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
