Description

20+ Champion Trophies, 200+ Gold Medals + a Decanter World Champion Shiraz in their burgeoning awards cupboard. Sidewood are an extraordinary winery with their award-winning vineyards situated in the Adelaide Hills... a South Australian region revered for wines of power and elegance. This seriously impressive 2019 Sidewood Chardonnay has sizably added to the awards cupboard with Champion Trophy for “Australia’s Best Fuller Style Dry White” 2020/2021, 7 Gold Medals & 92/100 leading world critic James Suckling. Gently pressed free run juice fermented with wild yeast, barrel fermented then aged for 10-months in fine French oak... it is an impressive mix of weight and elegance. Beautifully rich Chardonnay with mouthwatering elegance that will have you pondering... “how could they make a Chardonnay of this quality for $19.99”? It will continue to evolve through 2024+.

Smells

Tantalising aromas of white flowers, Golden peach, pink grapefruit, hazelnut and subtle toast.

Tastes

The creamy palate is awash with stone & citrus fruits laced with subtle nut, spice and toast. It builds in power before subsiding over a lengthy period freshened by salivating minerality. I like the wineries food recommendations... “enjoy as an accompaniment to teriyaki salmon, roast pork, or a mushroom risotto”... and thoroughly agree with their alternative suggestion... “Serve chilled on its own”.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
