Description
After a warm 2021 season in Gisborne, the Chardonnay grapes exhibited wonderful intense flavours. Once at optimal ripeness and flavour development the grapes were harvested in the cool of the early morning to preserve their freshness, gently pressed with the resultant juice fermented using selected yeast strains known for their aromatic qualities. The wine was aged in contact with high-quality new and old French oak and left on yeast lees for 2 months to enhance texture and palate weight.
Smells
aromas of yellow nectarine, hints of lemon curd, caramel, and spicy oak on the nose.
Tastes
Light golden straw in colour, clean and focused on the palate with flavours of yellow apples, grapefruit, and peach with Crème Brulee supported by soft toasty oak. Fine acid with good persistence. Medium to full-bodied, perfect drinking now and will age gracefully over the next 2-3 years. Crack open a bottle of the Gisborne Chardonnay with a pot-roasted chicken served on a bed of puy lentils with green salad & enjoy with friends and family!
